As Assistant Nurse Manager, you will support the nurse manager by providing clinical supervision and unit coordination. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday rotation requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Manage the day-to-day operations of ambulatory procedural settings caring for hospitalized patients. Oversee nursing personnel and patient care providers in procedural settings to ensure quality of care. Anticipate and resolve patient care issues. Ensure continuity of patient care by actively participating in and facilitating communication and collaboration among and between department staff and other departments re: operational issues. Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers. Provide ongoing clinical evaluation of nurses and other direct and indirect patient care providers on assigned unit/area. Counsel employees on performance issues, administers initial corrective actions, collaborates in monitoring attendance issues. Alert Nurse Manager of significant clinical or other performance issues. Participate in interviewing, selecting and appraising the performance of employees. Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines. Administer Nursing Institute, departmental and CC policies and procedures. Monitor daily clinical operations of outpatient clinics (patient flow, staffing, supplies, etc.). Prepare schedule of work assignment assuring adequate coverage on all shifts. Participate in and supports quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives. Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Two years of clinical experience Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills Good oral, written and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and organizational skills. Degree from an accredited Nursing Program. Current State Registered Nurse License. Current CPR Qualifications Required Skills: Successful completion of accredited Registered Nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred. Current state license as a Registered Nurse required. Current CPR Certification required. One (1) year recent experience preferred. Acute care setting preferred. ACLS certification preferred in LTACH and Texas hospitals. Additional Qualifications/Skills: Knowledge of and adherence to current nursing theory and practice, infection control, and wound care standards of practice. Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by state and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS. Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures, and utilizes proper policies, procedures, and guidelines in caring for patients. Demonstrates critical thinking skills. Demonstrates general computer skills including: data entry, word processing, email, and record management. Effective organizational and time management skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality. Ability to work closely and professionally with others. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. Responsibilities The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within assigned unit. The role is also responsible for patient assessments, planning, supervising, interventions, and evaluations designed to prevent complications of physical disability, restore optimal functioning, and help the patient adapt to an altered life style.
