POSITION SUMMARY: To provide occupational and environmental health nursing services to employees and prospective employees in a variety of age groups by performing varied occupational health services and functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing or graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelors Degree in a healthcare related field. Evidence of continuing professional education. SCHEDULE: 8:00am-4:30pm EXPERIENCE: Five years experience as a medical/surgical nurse, a portion of which should be in the outpatient setting. Experience in occupational health preferred. Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, and Email. SPECIAL SKILLS: Physical and cognitive requirements: Position’s physical requirements necessitate a full range of body motion including but not limited to, physically assisting patients, requiring stretching, bending, lifting, sitting, kneeling, stooping, standing, walking, pushing and pulling. Position is classified according to the USDOL as Very Heavy Work which is defined as exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The National Institute of Safety and Health (NIOSH0 guidelines, which recommends that the average worker not lift more than 51 pounds without assistance, will be followed. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination are also required as is constant talking and listening in English. Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, including speech clarity, understanding the information relayed, deductive and inductive reasoning skills (the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense and the ability to combine pieces of information to/from general rules or conclusion respectively). Considerable walking, standing, sitting, reaching, filing, typing and photocopying required. Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing needs of patients with acute, chronic and complex and/or terminal disease processes. Ability to work cooperatively within health system, multidisciplinary team members (i.e. MD’s, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Laboratory, etc). Ability to utilize effective time management skills to set priorities to perform responsibilities, problem solve and deliver care. Current Occupational Health Nurse Certification or OHNC Certification within 2 years of hire into the position. CPR (BCLS) Certification with AED Certification, Venipuncture. Strong knowledge of the principles, practices, rules, requirements of Infection Control, Health & Wellness, Case Management, Medical Surveillance. You will work in a growing, specialized area of the nursing field outside the walls of a hospital setting As a Home Infusion Registered Nurse you will provide a broad range of infusion therapies in out patients’ homes while: Compassionately taking care of patients in order to allow them to recover in the comfort of their own home by using your clinical IV capabilities and personal touch. Skillfully providing one-on-one home infusion nursing care visits and patient education in accordance with the physician’s plan of treatment. Assessing the patient’s condition and response to therapy, taking action as needed to facilitate achievement of treatment goals. Establishing trust and building therapeutically effective relationships with our clients and their families. Required Qualifications: Active and unrestricted registered nurse with current license in state of NY Two (2)+ years of experience working as an RN in a Critical Care setting that contributes to proficiency in infusion therapy (such as medical surgical unit, ED, ICU, post-anesthesia care, or similar setting) Experience with lab draws, IV infusions, and reconstitution of medications Strong experience with working with a variety of pumps (CAAD, curling, etc) & troubleshooting issues that may arise Possess a valid and current driver’s license and auto insurance/registration Ability to handle specialty cases like IGG, IVIG, Solumedrol, etc. Have and maintain current CPR / BLS certification Knowledge of HIPAA patient privacy and data security requirements; OSHA employee protection regulations Hold current Malpractice Insurance Have experience with Microsoft Office to document and track patient care activity About Us: Founded in 2008, UniversaCare is a fully licensed and growing Home Care Agency serving the NY Metropolitan area and is continually expanding throughout the Northeast.
