As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team. Reports all variations from normal to the RN in charge of the patient. Obtains finger stick blood glucose as delegated by the RN unless working in an area where this is prohibited. Prepares patients for meals, assists in feeding patients (if necessary), distributes fresh water and other nourishment according to patients’ needs. Assists patients with elimination needs. Ambulates/Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and patient safety techniques. Assists nurse in treatment procedures as needed. Documents accurately and timely in the patient medical record. Actively participates in quality improvement programs. Adheres to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital/Wenatchee Valley Hospital policies and unit standards as applicable. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification. Other duties as assigned.
