This position is a vital part of the urgent care team that works under the direction of the Site Manager and works closely with the provider and other clinical staff. Must demonstrate discretion; good judgment; diplomacy; decision-making; and a customer service attitude. Collects identification and payor related documentation, conducts registration using EPIC workflow. Measures and documents vitals and communicates the resulting data to the consumer and provider, including temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, and pain level. Documents chief complaint, allergies, health history, and current medications accurately in EPIC for review by provider. Performs and documents laboratory testing and collections per provider orders and/or standard operating procedures, to include venipuncture with prior venipuncture competency check-off. Administers and documents oral and intramuscular medication using the appropriate medication verification workflow. If a medical assistant, then may perform injections with the appropriate competency checkoff Assists provider with procedures to include, but not limited to maintaining sterile field, laceration repair, I&D, and application of ortho-goods and assists with ortho-glass application. Performs diagnostic x-rays and documents completion of radiology examinations within the licensed scope of practice as ordered and verified by the provider. Performs x-rays following established protocols and utilizes appropriate exposure factors for care and safety. Ensures images and applicable communication are transferred to radiology group for overread and assures all images have a report on file in the medical record. Additionally, patients requiring telemetry monitoring may be cared for on this unit. Typical patient injuries can be comprised of rib fractures, distal orthopedic injuries, traumatic spinal injuries, closed head injuries with and without state of confusion, traumatic amputations, hemothorax’s, pneumothoraxes, and etc. Here’s What You Need Associate degree or Nursing Diploma required BSN preferred One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program. Current BLS (required) –prior to providing independent patient care. CPI training within 90 days of hire (required) 1+ years of Med/surg, Burn, Trauma or Orthopedic RN experience in acute care setting (preferred) Strong med/surg experience including charge/preceptor skills (preferred) ONC – Orthopedic Nurse Certified within 2 years (preferred) NICHE - Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders within 12 Months(preferred) What You Will Do Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process Assesses the patient Plans the care of the patient Intervenes as appropriate Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
