Description: You would be joining the Ayer Neuroscience Institute at Hartford Hospital in the position of Nurse Manager on the Bliss 9i which is16 bed unit composed of a combination Neuroscience and Medical ICU. Your role, in partnership with the Nurse Director, would be to support the management, budgeting, staffing and patient care this combined ICU. Our patient population include but are not limited to; respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver injury/failure, kidney injury/failure, sepsis, drug/alcohol withdrawal, stroke, head/spinal cord trauma and brain hemorrhage. RNs in this specialty also must have a family-centered approach because of the critical nature of our patients. We also work closely with our Critical Care Clinicians, Neuro-intensivist, Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to provide the highest quality of care for our patients. Functioning within the framework for professional nursing practice, the Patient Unit Manager supports and assists the Director. This position has 24 hour accountability for managing resources (human, material and financial), to ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of patient services for specific patient populations, in a defined area across the continuum. This is accomplished by direct action, delegation, coaching and support of unit-based shared governance councils. Reports to Director of Nursing for the Ayer Neuroscience Institute. Qualifications Qualifications: Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license required. Bachelor's degree required.* Master's degree preferred. One degree must be in Nursing. ICU and Neuroscience Experience Preferred. Certification in nursing administration is required within 5 years of assuming position. Minimum 3 years relevant clinical experience. A Surgical Technologist at this level is new to the role of a Surg Tech and requires training in order to be fully proficient in all required surgeries on infants and pediatric patients. The Surgical Technologist I provides assistance during surgical procedures by passing sterile instruments to the surgeon. As directed by the surgeon, may hold retractors, sponge or suction operative site, and apply electrocautery within the surgical technologist’s scope of practice.
