Overview Monterey Park Hospital, a 101-acute care facility located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Med/Surg Unit. This is a full-time, 12-hour day shift position reporting to the Director of Med/Surg. Responsibilities The Med/Surg RN provides care, treatment, counseling, and health education to the hospitalized patient. The RN is responsible for planning and coordinating care from admission through post-discharge. This planning and coordination includes meeting and exceeding compliance with core measures, contributing to a reduction in LOS, active participation with all aspects of quality, safety, and performance improvement activities, collaboration with all the members of the multidisciplinary team in providing outstanding customer service to patients, family members, physicians, and the public. Meets and exceeds CDPH, The Joint Commission (TJC), and other regulatory requirements. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nursing program; BSN preferred. One year of acute care experience is preferred. Current CA RN license required. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification from the American Heart Association required. Proficiency in both written and oral English.

Directs, supervises and evaluates nursing care provided to patients. Assigns nursing care team members in accordance with patient needs, team members capabilities and qualifications. Documents patient admission assessment and reassessments, patient care plans and other pertinent information, completely in the patient’s medical record according to nursing standards and policies. Performs assessment on all patients on admission and reassessments as per policy. Makes referrals to other disciplines based on assessment. Develops nursing care plan of assigned patient on admission, updates plan of care as needed and ensures plan of care is coordinated with patient, family, and other members of the team. Assesses and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management. Revises the plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluates overall plan daily for effectiveness. Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age. Performs treatments and provides services to the level of licensure. Receives physician’s orders, ensure transcription is accurate and documents completion. Assists physicians with examinations, treatments and special procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills within scope of practice. Administers medication utilizing the five rights of medication administration reducing the potential for medication errors. Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. Basic computer knowledge. Able to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities and function in stressful situations. Provides non-compoicated teaching following the registered nurse/advanced practice provider/physician plan for education. Report any identified learning needs and discharge barriers. Ensures cleanliness of nursing module/station, patient exam room, and proper functioning of patient care equipment by visual inspection, routine testing, and other related methods. Description Kindred Hospital Paramount and Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is 177-bed hospital. With 159 long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) beds, we offer the same in-depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period. Our 18-bed ARU is designed for people who have experience the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment or illness and like the LTACH, we partner with your physician and offer 24-hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness. Job Summary The Charge Nurse manages a designated group of nursing employees on a nursing unit and assures smooth operations of the unit for a designated staff. (Could encompass one or more units depending upon size and clinical programs.) Scope of work may be modified by State specific rules under the Nurse Practice Act. Essential Functions Assesses, plans, coordinates and evaluates residents’ care along with members of the interdisciplinary team. Documents the resident’s condition and nursing needs accurately and in a timely manner.
