Overview Monterey Park Hospital, a 101-acute care facility located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Med/Surg Unit. This is a full-time, 12-hour day shift position reporting to the Director of Med/Surg. Responsibilities The Med/Surg RN provides care, treatment, counseling, and health education to the hospitalized patient. The RN is responsible for planning and coordinating care from admission through post-discharge. This planning and coordination includes meeting and exceeding compliance with core measures, contributing to a reduction in LOS, active participation with all aspects of quality, safety, and performance improvement activities, collaboration with all the members of the multidisciplinary team in providing outstanding customer service to patients, family members, physicians, and the public. With 159 long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) beds, we offer the same in-depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period. Our 18-bed ARU is designed for people who have experience the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment or illness and like the LTACH, we partner with your physician and offer 24-hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness. Job Summary The Charge Nurse manages a designated group of nursing employees on a nursing unit and assures smooth operations of the unit for a designated staff. (Could encompass one or more units depending upon size and clinical programs.) Scope of work may be modified by State specific rules under the Nurse Practice Act. Your Role on the Team Position Summary The clinical nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients. Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Will evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge and revise plan or make referrals as necessary. Acts as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit. Functions as a (PCC) Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.
