The first step to become an LPN is to complete a licensed practical nursing program and pass the NCLEX-PN. Many employers also favor applicants with one year of prior clinical experience in a home health setting.

Since you’ll be providing direct care, you’ll also need strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and empathy. Additionally, home health LPNs should be able to work independently within their scope of practice, as they often care for patients without immediate supervision.
