The department at Children's of Minnesota provides care for children of all ages with all types of malignancies including brain tumors, solid tumors, and leukemia; and blood disorders such as sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, and anemia. As the largest provider of services for children with cancer and bleeding disorders in the region, the Cancer and Blood Disorders program focuses on providing well-coordinated knowledge-driven clinical care. We participate in national and international research and are leaders in research on supportive care and quality of life for children with cancer and bleeding disorders. Position Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides support to providers in the delivery of timely, high-quality patient care services in a clinic environment. The clinical service functions include initial data collection, assisting providers with rooming, check in and scheduling of appointments. The LPN also assists patients with prescription management, patient registration, answering patient concerns and maintaining outpatient medical records. The LPN may also serve as the clinical Lead. Individuals in this role will work in an outpatient clinic setting. License/Certification/Registration required? Approximately 10% of all dialysis patients reside in a SNF and are transported to dialysis three times a week placing a significant burden on patients and adding significant avoidable costs to the health care system. Works to coordinate, oversee, and provide resident-related care. Administers medications and/or treatments in accordance with physician's orders and monitors for effectiveness/response. Manages medications, supplies, and equipment including ordering, receiving, storing, and disposing of all items in accordance with policies and procedures. Documents care using computerized medication administration and charting software. Notifies Clinical Manager, attending physicians, and family members of significant changes in a resident's condition, and takes follow up action as necessary. Monitors nursing personnel on duty during the assigned shift. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Qualifications: Current Minnesota LPN license required.
