Certification (CMA) obtained through a nationally approved certification program for medical assistant, including but not limited to: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), etc. Registration (RMA) obtained through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) also acceptable. Additional state requirements include: North Dakota (ND) registration as an MAIII through the ND Board of Nursing. If the incumbent does not already hold their registration as an MAIII through the ND Board of Nursing at time of hire they will be granted 4 months to obtain registration. All medication administration performed by the incumbent prior to obtaining the MAIII must be supervised by a licensed nurse. Additionally, must also be registered on the ND Board of Nursing UAP Registry if they do not possess MAIII registration at time of hire. MAs working within Minnesota (MN), Iowa (IA), South Dakota (SD) and Oregon (OR) do not require state registration. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment. Re-certification as required. LPN Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse. If position requires IV therapy/management skills, the following is required in North Dakota: graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. RN Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred. Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. The LPN provides nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of the physician or Registered Nurse (RN) accepts delegation to meet the needs of the patient. Properly prepares for care of patient by participating in pre-visit planning, preparing exam and treatment areas per clinic standards. Completes patient rooming procedures to include vital signs, data collection and other identified components specific to the clinic setting. Accurately administers and documents medications in accordance with best practice and clinic policy. Performs nursing procedures and treatments within Scope of Responsibilities according to nursing division and clinic specific standards. Demonstrates the ability to accurately perform and document assessments, apply clinical interventions, evaluate outcomes, and implement change to the plan of care in collaboration with RN/provider. Provide/distribute preapproved/preprinted patient education materials. Provide reinforcement of health teaching and discharge instruction provided by RN/provider, directing all patient questions to RN/provider. Completes independent nurse visits as allowed per scope and department policy with appropriate supervision. Assist in management of inbox and complete patient referrals/prior authorizations per policy and scope. Assists and actively participates in onboarding and mentoring of clinical staff per scope and as directed. Positively supports and contributes to departmental development as evidenced by participating in meetings, committees, and continuing education/training. Ensures documentation in the patient record is accurate, clear, concise within outlined Scope of Responsibilities. All other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Required: Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing Certification - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing Preferred: Experience - 1+ years of Healthcare Experience Scheduling Requirements: Requires the ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department. Physical Requirements: Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.
