Position Overview We are seeking an exceptional Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to serve as a remote consultant supporting correctional healthcare teams nationwide. This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing complex wounds, exercises outstanding clinical judgment, and is comfortable making timely, evidence-based recommendations independently while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and facility medical teams. Expertise in wound care paired with vascular disease, infectious disease, limb preservation, or complex chronic disease management is strongly preferred. This part-time role requires 20 hours per week, with potential to grow into a full-time position. It calls for clinicians who are highly accountable, detail-oriented, and responsive, and who are willing to obtain and maintain multiple state licenses as the company continues to expand. Key Responsibilities Review patient consultations and provide evidence-based wound care recommendations through our proprietary consultation platform. Assess complex wounds and identify barriers to healing, infection risks, vascular concerns, and opportunities for escalation of care. Develop practical treatment recommendations utilizing approved formularies and available resources within correctional settings, including guidance on advanced wound management, infection prevention, offloading, vascular evaluation, and appropriate use of wound care products. Collaborate with facility physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing teams to optimize patient outcomes. Participate in quality assurance initiatives, clinical outcome reviews, and continuous improvement efforts. Assist with development of clinical protocols, educational content, and customer training initiatives. Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation. Participate in rotating after-hours and holiday coverage schedules, and travel occasionally for company meetings, educational events, and customer engagement activities. They will play a major role in collaboration with the CRNA team and Internal Medicine department to decide if a patient is physically fit to undergo surgery and to decide if the patient’s laboratory markers deem them to be safe candidates for the administration of general anesthesia. Through the development of algorithms and checklists by the CRNA and surgical/Internal medicine team the NP of the Pre-OP clinic will follow these flowsheets to ensure safety of the surgical patient. This pre-op clearance process will allow EKG’s, labs, concerning physical disabilities, medication issues, and allergies to be pre-assessed prior to the day of surgery optimizing patient outcomes and preventing medical errors. The NP of Pre-op clinic will work along with the Chief CRNA to improve overall flow, function, safety and efficiency of the pre-operative and pre-anesthesia processes. Cardiac clearance and pulmonary clearance may be needed and future testing will ultimately be determined by the CRNA or IM physician. The NP will be responsible for collecting labs and performing the EKG in the pre- op clinic. Supervises the activities of the staff in the pre-op clinic. Ensuring the patients are receiving the appropriate educational information from the pre-op nurse as well as appropriate pre-operative preps to include but not limited to bowel preps, antibiotics, and pre-op at home surgical preps. Provides input and attends meetings for all departments directly affected by pre-operative services. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs the operational services of pre-op clinic along with the Chief CRNA, both advise the Chief of Surgical Services, Medical Officer and the Chief Executive Officer of TCRHCC on perioperative matters concerning the pre-anesthesia testing clinic. Participates with members of other departments, in planning joint administrative and technical programs; and making recommendations for maximum coordination of pre-operative services with other patient services. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs comprehensive history and physical examinations on patients with cancer to assess normal and abnormal findings and identifies differential diagnoses on established and new patients. Interviews, assesses, and evaluates oncology and hematology patients receiving outpatient infusion and other therapies to determine their physical condition and orders initial diagnostic tests, collects specimens for routine laboratory tests, and performs screening and therapeutic procedures appropriate for the patient’s medical condition. Writes orders for administration of blood products and chemotherapy agents under the direction and supervision of attending physician. Orders consults for services such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, imaging studies, and nursing services; and writes referrals for consultations to radiation oncology, writes orders for vascular access device placement for chemotherapy, and arranges for procedures and biopsies with the surgery and interventional radiology services. Formulates an evidence-based treatment plan according to the interpretation and evaluation of all patient data. Collaborates with other healthcare team members involved in patient treatment to ensure continuity of care. Initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges patients as indicated by clinical status. Manages the clinical course of patients with cancer with acute or chronic complaints and end-of-life and other health concerns. Performs core clinical practice competencies specific to the patient population, and promotes, directs, evaluates, and manages safe patient care for patients being treated in the chemotherapy infusion area, and provides patient teaching and coordinates counseling. Prescribes medications and administers orders as indicated by patients’ clinical status. Serves as a cancer pain management resource to the medical center in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Recognizes and initiates lifesaving procedures for oncologic emergencies and brings emergencies to the immediate attention of a physician. Participates in the tumor board and clinical research studies as determined by the needs of the program and participates in staff development and in-service education as requested. Promotes and participates in the delivery of patient and family education on the cancer diagnosis, treatment, expected outcomes, and end-of-life issues such as do-not-resuscitate orders, healthcare proxies, and advance directives; and assists in the completion of patients’ disability and insurance forms as needed. Ensure proper PPE is always worn while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield. Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (see CDC website for most current updates) Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee, and external customer satisfaction.
