The successful candidate will deliver direct patient care consistent with the advanced practice registered nurse’s education, experience and certification, in collaboration with a physician, which includes diagnosis, management and/or referral of health care issues. Promotes consumer, family, and community health through preventative health care actions and through patient advocacy. The advanced practice registered nurse may also manage complex illnesses and/or deliver specialty care. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System. Responsibilities Include Contributes to patient safety by: Providing a safe environment for patients. Reporting safety concerns, errors and near misses. This APP will need to be able to see Adult and Pediatric patients. NP's require either Acute Care AND Family NP certification or Acute Care AND Adult Gero and Pediatric certification. This is an exciting opportunity to manage injured patients of all ages at a Level 2 Trauma Center. This is a fast-paced, top of license position. Settings will include inpatient, ED, Nursing floor, critical care services and OR. Some typical duties will include: Rounding on ICU/RNF, reporting to trauma activations in the ED, advanced procedures (i.e. central and arterial lines, chest tube placement, intubation, wound repair), and OR assisting. The ideal candidate would have a background in trauma, surgery services and/or emergency medicine. ACLS/BLS certification is mandatory. ATLS certification is mandatory. PALS certification preferred. The hours for this position will include 12/14/16 hour day night shifts (including weekends, holidays and the potential for some call). Experience is preferred for this position, however, new graduates with prior relevant experience will be considered. Responsibilities: Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.
