Description The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting a PRN Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide care for a migrant farmworker clinic program in Iowa City, IA ! About The Migrant Farmworker Program Farmworkers perform difficult labor and are in the fields from early morning until late evening, sometimes seven days a week. Such a schedule does not facilitate access to health care services. There are also language barriers and transportation issues. Health care clinics are scheduled in locations where farmworkers are working and living, during the hours when workers are available for services. In these locations, workers receive vital exams such as blood pressure, temperature, height and weight, and blood profiling to check for anemia, cholesterol, and diabetes. All patients are able to have a complete physical exam. Take advantage of this unique to opportunity provide healthcare to the migrant farm workers of Iowa! Participates in department quality improvement activities, staff educational programs, attends departmental meetings, and demonstrates and maintains clinical competency in the delivery of patient care services in accordance with Company guidelines. Participates in Peer Review and Chart Audit processes as designated by the Medical Director. Maintains supervisory duties over staff as required. Job Requirements Education and Work Experience: High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required Licenses/Certifications Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or equivalent combination of licensure and experience: Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) Health Care Provider certification: Required Successful completion of audiometry and vision training or have a certificate from CHDP within six months of hire.: Preferred Phlebotomy certificate: Preferred Essential Functions Sets up exam rooms and checks in patients. Maintains a patient recall system, including continuity of care log for lab tests, referrals and transfers. Obtains vital signs. Reports significant findings and pertinent patient observations to clinic physician. Performs venipunctures as ordered. Performs audiometry and vision testing.
