The Medical Assistant/EMT Position Responsibilities Include Room patients and complete vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements. Review charts for the presence of pertinent information relevant to the patient’s appointment. This may include Prepared Practice work as developed by the team. Gather all necessary and appropriate information from a caller and relay information to the appropriate provider for necessary follow-up. Inform reception desk of provider’s schedule status and assist in coordination of urgent and non-urgent provider schedule changes to ensure patient and provider needs are met. Perform patient correspondence when requested and assist patients in completing forms when appropriate. Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to procedure and OSHA standards. Complete scheduled cleaning requirements for designated work areas. Document completion of work to comply with infection control and OSHA standards Implement other infection control procedures as needed and adhere to protective clothing requirements. Ensure clinic supplies are adequately stocked and well organized. Process and deliver department inventory requests in a timely manner. Routinely check expiration dates and remove or replace outdated supplies. Maintain prescription sample supply cabinet as per clinic protocol Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and adequate records are kept. Ensure inventory of instruments and equipment is current. Ensure instruments and equipment are calibrated as needed and maintained in proper working order. RESPONSIBILITIES Assist physicians with medical procedures in office. Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. QUALIFICATIONS At least one year of experience as a medical assistant in a clinic or physician’s office with the ability to perform venipunctures preferred. - Valid Florida driver’s license is needed for travel to the clinics. - High school diploma or GED is required and will be required to produce at time of hire. BLS required upon hire or must be obtained within 30 days of employment (FCS will provide BLS course within first 30 days).
