The RN, Stem Cell Transplant I will: Provide patient centered care to oncology patients across the adult and geriatric spectrum in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Demonstrate a high level of competency across the continuum of malignant hematology and stem cell transplantation. Deliver exceptional care across all domains of practice when caring for patients receiving cellular therapies. Develop and implement an individualized plan of utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Be responsible for inspiring and guiding other qualified patient care team members to ensure enhanced patient outcomes through effective communication, collaboration, preceptorship, mentorship, and effective delegation in the exercise of his/her independent judgment. Address physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs of the patient and caregiver in the delivery of nursing care. Coordinate the plan of care with other healthcare professionals, support persons, and all members of the healthcare team. The successful candidate: Must be able to work PRN Nights, 7p-7a. Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the care of patients across the continuum of malignant hematology and stem cell transplantation. Assists with special procedures. Directs the care delivered by Patient Care Technicians and other members of the healthcare team. Adheres to the hospital and department infection control policies including but not limited to hand hygiene, asepsis, isolation practice, and employee health practice. Effectively communicates with peers to resolve conflict. Assists in the on-boarding of new employees. Protects the patient’s dignity, rights, and privacy. Assesses the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person. Delegate tasks according to the Georgia Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions. Document nursing care, implants, and specimens accurately, completely, and legibly. Collaborate with other disciplines as applicable. Maintain required competencies. Pursue professional growth and keep current with technology. Completes additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Your qualifications should include: 5 years of experience in Cellular Therapy (Stem Cell Transplant and/or Immune Effector Cell), or as deemed qualified by Cellular Therapy Leadership. Education- BSN required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and BSN completed within three years from hire date. Licensure-Georgia Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State Certification- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification- an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site certification is required upon hire. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, stakeholders will have (30) days from the date of hire to attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years. See specific role for any additional requirements. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification. Stakeholders will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Order all necessary medication and treatments from appropriate pharmacy or notify responsible party when supply is no less than 7 days. Notify supervisor when supply is less than 2 days and medicine hasn’t been received. Responsible for receiving and verifying all medicine received is accurate according to pharmacy label and MAR. Notifies pharmacy and DH&W of any discrepancies. Responsible for proper storage of all medications and ensuring all lotions, ointments and liquids stored separately from oral medications. Responsible for dating all appropriate vials or bottles at time of initial opening and following pharmacy protocol on length of time they can be used. Responsible for weekly inspections of all medications to ensure all expired medications are removed. Responsible for verifying all current MARs are compared to new MARs at change over time and notifying the supervisor of any discrepancies. Responsible for removing all discontinued medication from med cart and giving it to the supervisor. Provide personal care to residents to include, but not limited to, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating, etc. Provide general nursing care to include, but not limited to, vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights. Document appropriate information in the daily log as required and notify supervisor of all concerns. Answer calls and assist residents with needs as assigned. Responsible for daily cleaning of all medicine carts at end of shift and restocking as needed. Responsible for weekly deep cleaning of all med carts. Attend and participate in staff training and in-services. Must maintain accurate records to include preparation of all medical charts for new admissions and readmissions and ensures medical record is complete within forty-eight (48) hours as Policy and Procedure (P&P) and regulatory guidelines.
