To provide first line response to patient questions and concerns with escalation to the primary care offices when necessary. To ensure continuity of care, communicates the patient’s condition and plan of care to other health team members. Essential Functions Accurately assesses each patient’s condition by actively listening to callers and asking probative questions. Identifies emergent situations and effectively transfers life threatening calls to appropriate agencies per protocol. Provides appropriate and courteous telephone advice including plan of care and patient education to callers according to approved protocols. Appropriately and accurately documents initial and ongoing telephone conversations with documentation being completed immediately after the call ends. Places outbound follow up calls to caregivers as needed. Accurately communicates information to physician on call as needed either over the telephone or by routing the necessary information to the physician through EPIC. Works autonomously while adhering to organizational standards and core values. Attends and participates in staff meetings and required departmental meetings. Meets the needs of the department by flexing hours as needed based on seasonal changes and call volume. This may include morning, evening, weekend, and midnight shifts. Meets unit expectations for call volumes, call duration and customer service expectations. Appropriately utilizes and maintains Nemours supplied equipment; ability to troubleshoot technology issues to ensure uninterrupted service to patients. Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor. Job Requirements Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred. Associates Degree prepared candidates must be actively enrolled in a BSN program. Upon hire, the Kids Health On Call nurse must have an active unrestricted Delaware Registered Nurse license to start. Active Pennsylvania and Florida Registered Nurse Licenses must be obtained within 90 days of hire date. BLS from American Heart Association required for all nursing roles. Nurses residing in an interstate compact state (DE, NJ or MD) who have a multistate license for their state of residence will not need to obtain separate PA or FL licensure. Nurses residing in PA will continue to require separate DE and FL licensure until PA begins full participation in the interstate compact. Description Status Hours- Part Time 24 hour Days 7a-7p Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a CNA/ED Tech to join our Emergency Department team. We are seeking a dedicated professional who is flexible, organized, and able to perform effectively in high-stress situations. In this role, you’ll work closely with providers and nursing staff to support patient care, address concerns, and respond to patient needs. Essential Job Duties: Collaborate with nurses and physicians as needed to maximize team effectiveness. Maintain fax machine, printers and PCs, while troubleshooting problems. Report patient concerns to the Nurse Manager for follow-up. Courteously interact with all hospital staff, and answer/respond to telephone calls. Obtain and monitor needed supplies/equipment; make recommendations to The ED Nurse Manager. Function as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant as directed by Nurse Manager. Assist physicians and nurses in contacting other physicians/offices in any way needed. Actively participate in departmental quality management by completing assigned audits and data collection. Collating data as requested, maintaining knowledge of annual QM plan. Accurately enters orders within CPSI when necessary. Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. Other duties as assigned Requirements Education or License: Maintain a current CNA certificate of the state of Maine. Maintain current BLS certification. Medical terminology not required but desired. Ability to answer phones courteously an in a professional manner. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be able to perform well in stressful, noisy situations. Maintain a high degree of responsibility, accountability, and flexibility. Ability to use fax machine, photocopier and personal computer. Demonstrates knowledge of computerized technology, procedures for reporting failures, and procedures for emergency shutdowns. Physical Requirements: Minimal physical work, lifting not to exceed 50 lbs. Moderate amount of writing. Significant amount of typing. Place equipment on supports and lift supplies as needed. Bending to perform certain duties. Use material handling equipment (i.e. cart, dollies) and proper body mechanics when moving or transferring materials, supplies, or equipment that exceeds the weight limits or that which is beyond your level of capacity to lift.
