Job Overview The Clinical Manager oversees the daily operations of a direct patient care department, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and quality standards. This role provides clinical leadership, guiding staff in delivering developmentally appropriate care and evaluating outcomes. The Clinical Manager supports quality and safety initiatives, contributes to organizational goals, and drives improvements in healthcare performance and patient experience. In collaboration with other healthcare leaders, the Clinical Manager fosters professional development, coaches for performance, and cultivates a positive environment for both team members and patients/families. The Neuroscience Institute’s primary neurology ambulatory clinic is located on the Anschutz Campus, with additional neurology services supported across several Network of Care sites in the Denver Metro region. Our team provides comprehensive neurologic care to pediatric patients with a wide range of acute, episodic, and chronic neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions. Neurology ambulatory nurses collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare team that includes advanced practice providers, registered nurses, medical assistants, EEG/EMG technologists, social workers, and pediatric neurologists, including epileptologists, neuroimmunology specialists, neuromuscular specialists. Together, we coordinate care for patients across the continuum while supporting both diagnostic evaluations and ongoing disease management. Our clinic cares for children with conditions including, but not limited to: Chronic neurologic conditions such as epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, cerebral palsy, neurogenetic syndromes, movement disorders, and neuroimmunologic diseases Neurodevelopmental and congenital disorders including developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder with neurological comorbidities, neurometabolic and neurogenetic disorders Acute and episodic concerns such as headaches and migraines, seizures, tics, and other new-onset neurological symptoms Duties & Responsibilities Develops and communicates the department’s strategic plan and annual goals, aligning team priorities with organizational objectives to enhance clinical practice, quality of care, and professional growth. Selects, trains, and evaluates department staff, creating a supportive environment that promotes development, engagement, and high performance. Makes decisions on hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations in coordination with Associate Clinical Managers. Develops departmental budget recommendations and monitors expenditures to support cost-effective operations. Directs and manages daily departmental operations, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Uses evidence-based practice to develop and maintain guidelines for safe, effective care. Provides clinical expertise, guiding team members in delivering developmentally appropriate care and evaluating outcomes for infants and children with complex health needs. Oversees staff and financial resource allocation, adjusting as needed to meet patient care demands while maintaining budget compliance. Establishes department performance metrics and collaborates with Associate Clinical Managers to achieve clinical, operational, and developmental goals. Identifies and acts on opportunities for continuous improvement. Resolves escalated, complex, or sensitive patient/family issues and operational concerns, making inclusive, data-informed decisions that address root causes. Interprets and enforces quality and safety standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and promote best practices. Leads and supports a culture of clinical inquiry by mentoring team members on practice-based research and quality improvement projects. Represents the department in senior leadership and interdepartmental meetings, fostering collaboration across teams and participating in organizational committees. Minimum Qualifications Degrees Required Bachelor of Science in Nursing Master of Science in Nursing Experience Minimum Experience Required:Three (3) years of clinical experience and two years of nursing leadership experience in supervision, leading clinical practice projects, serving as a charge nurse or house supervisor, and/or precepting. The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) provides care for children with congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension and acquired heart disease, serving patients from neonate through adulthood (for adults with congenital heart disease). Qualifications EDUCATION – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) EXPERIENCE –One year nursing experience. Candidates with pediatric inpatient, ED, and/or ICU experience, and/or adult ICU or ED experience strongly preferred. EQUIVALENCY- Applicants with an Associate's Degree in Nursing and who agree to obtain a BSN within three (3) years from their start/hire date may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s Entry to Practice Nursing (MEPN) may substitute for a BSN. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S) – Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or RN license from multistate compact; BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least six (6) months left before expiration is required upon hire. Principal Responsibilities • Works in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team to assess the needs of the resident; Provides interdisciplinary schedule for MDS assessments and care plan reviews as required by governing agencies. • Ensures that the Interdisciplinary team makes decisions for either completing or not completing additional MDS, assessments based on clinical criteria as identified in the most recent version of the RAI User’s Manual. • Assist with coordination and management of the daily stand up meeting, to include review of resident care and the setting of the assessment reference date(s). • Complies with federal and state regulations regarding completion and coordination of the RAI process. • Monitors MDS and care plan documentation for all residents; ensures documentation is present in the medical record to support MDS coding. • Maintains current MDS status of assigned residents according to state and federal guidelines. • Maintains the frequent and accurate data entry of resident information into appropriate computerized MDS programs. • Completes accurate coding of the MDS with information obtained via medical record review as well as observation and interview with facility staff, resident and family members. • Attends interdisciplinary team meeting, quality assurance and other meeting in order to gather information, communicate changes, and maintain and update records. • Assists DON or designee with identification of a significant change, physician orders and verbal reports to assure that the MDS and care plan are reflective of those changes. • Prepares scheduling, notice of resident care planning conferences, and assists DON in communication of outcomes/problems to the responsible staff, resident, and/or responsible party. • Continually updating knowledge base related to data entry and computer technology. • Completes electronic submission of required documentation to the state database and other entities per company policy. • Corrects and ensures completion of final MDS and submits resident assessment data to the appropriate State and Federal government agencies. • Assigns, assists, and instructs staff in the RAI Process, PPS Medicare, Medicaid (Case Mix as required) and clinical computer system in relation to these processes. • Maintains confidentiality of necessary information. • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or assigned at any time with or without notice. Qualifications • Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program and licensed in the state of practice, required. • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred. • Excellent knowledge of Case-Mix, the Federal Medicare PPS process, and Medicaid reimbursement, as required. • Thorough understanding of the Quality Indicator process.
