How you make a difference In their role, the Director of Nursing (DON) is accountable for developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures that align with best practices and meet regulatory requirements. They work closely with the Medical Director to promote high standards of care and support the professional development of nursing staff to provide quality care to patients. Key Responsibilities Oversees daily operations and manages budgets, policies, and procedures to align with facility goals and objectives. Organizes service delivery, manage resources, and collaborate with other departments, facilities, persons served, families, and visitors. Leads quality improvement activities, provides direct supervision, and serves as a resource and consultant to nursing staff. Monitors safety issues, evaluate service delivery and staff growth, and adhere to the organization's Code of Conduct. Demonstrates knowledge of risk management, clinical precautions, infection control, fall prevention, utilization of special procedures, environmental checks, fire disaster procedures, and alternatives to use with regards to seclusion/restraint methods. The Assistant Dir. of Nursing will function as an advocate for resident and family, intervene and provide leadership and guidance in crises, and in assuring the resident achieves their highest level of functioning within a least restrictive environment. How you make a difference As a Registered Nurse (RN), your primary responsibility is to provide patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will work under the supervision of Charge Nurse(s) to provide patient education and activities in accordance with your competencies and education. This role requires excellent communication and critical thinking skills to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Assist in assessing and planning individual treatment programs, consulting with Charge Nurse(s) and other staff as necessary. Implement medical plans by administering medications, obtaining diagnostic tests, and assisting with medical or minor surgical procedures as needed. Count controlled substances and implement clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols. Document nursing encounters using the SOAP form of charting as required by policy and attend mandatory staff meetings and training. Communicate information to nursing staff, physician, health care unit supervisory personnel or other staff as necessary. Qualifications & Requirements Education Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience Licenses/Certifications Have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse within the state of employment. Additional Qualifications: American Heart Association BLS required. American Heart Association NRP required. May be hired with AHA/AAP Essential NRP, but must obtain Advanced NRP within 6 weeks or completion of orientation, whichever is longer. Travel nurses may continue to have Essential NRP if not performing in Charge, Neonatal Resuscitation, Baby, or NICU RN roles. If recovering OB or Surgical patients, American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months of hire. STABLE within 6 months of hire. Advance Fetal Monitoring Course within 6 months of labor training. Ability to Scrub or scrub training within 6 months of hire (specific for Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital). Refer to Womens Education Plan for ongoing competencies.
