Job Description Under the guidance of the Patient Capacity Management Center (PCMC) Leadership, to include Central Patient Placement and Transfer Center (CPP/TC) RN leads and supervises a team, ensuring efficient and safe patient placement and flow within the UCSF Medical Center Health System. This role involves collaboration with various healthcare professionals and departments to manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, while maintaining a positive patient experience and high-quality care standards. Responsibilities Actively manages inpatient unit staffing levels; ensuring staff coverage is appropriate to each departments’ current needs. Assumes responsibility for the unit in areas delegated and in the absence of the Unit Director Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team and acts as a resource to assist nurses in adhering to established nursing procedures Performs other duties as assigned/required. Functions as a leader of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams, facilitates the critical thinking of staff in carrying out established nursing procedures and addresses patient care issues. Qualifications Required qualifications: Minimum of five (5) years recent full-time acute care, critical care or emergency RN experience Previous Supervisory/Lead Experience Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a patient care unit. In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations and internal policies. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions. Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies. Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies and procedures related to Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive and personal information.
