Department Highlights Justin 5 is a 35‑bed Surgical Trauma Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Burn Unit. On August 10, the unit will open with 18 surgical trauma PCU beds and 9 burn beds, with plans to expand to the full 35 beds later in the year. This unit provides higher‑acuity surgical trauma and burn care, including treatment in a dedicated hydrotherapy procedure room for the burn population. Although patient populations differ, this is one integrated unit, and staff are expected to work across both care areas. What does the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) do? Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable. Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices. Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided. Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Opportunity to work on a brand-new unit in the beautiful Justin Tower MAGNET facility Level I Trauma Center Here’s What You Need Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required BSN preferred Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire 1-year experience as a registered nurse or the completion of an RN Residency program 2+ years med surg experience as an RN in acute care setting preferred. What You Will Do Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process Assesses the patient Plans the care of the patient Intervenes as appropriate Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care. Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
