Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse: Assist the Director of Nursing Services in determining the staffing needs of the Nursing Services Department. Assist in the scheduling of nursing staff in compliance with state guidelines Assist the Director of Nursing Services in the selection of nursing service personnel. Ensure that a sufficient number of LPNs and/or RNs are available for each tour of duty to ensure that quality care is maintained. Ensure that a sufficient number of CNAs/GNAs are available for each tour of duty to ensure that routine nursing care is provided to meet the daily nursing care needs of each resident. Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours, and/or assist nursing supervisory staff in completing and performing such tasks. Ensure that all nurse aide trainees are under the direct supervision of a LPN. Schedule work assignments. Assist the Director of Nursing Services and Assistant Director of Nursing Services in preparing and conducting performance evaluations, as directed. Make daily rounds of the Nursing Services Department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Report findings to the Director of Nursing Services. Monitor absenteeism to ensure that an adequate number of nursing care personnel are on duty at all times. Report problem areas to the Director of Nursing Services. Review complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnel. Make appropriate reports to the Director of Nursing Services, as required or as may be necessary. Ensure that departmental disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap, or marital status in accordance with all applicable laws. Ensure that all nursing personnel participate in the Facility’s TB testing program. Other special projects and duties, as assigned. Job Requirements of Registered Nurse: Registered Nurse current state license in Florida Three (3) years experience preferred as a supervisor in a hosptial, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare Facility. Must have a current/active CPR certification. Excellent technical, assessment, and documentation skills. Effective verbal and written English communication skills. Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of company objectives. Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and make independent decisions. Approachable, flexible and adaptable to change. Function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with employees and vendors. Position Responsibilities · Prepares the OR suite appropriately to receive a new admission. · Evaluates, assesses and documents patient’s surgical status. · Assists anesthesia in maintaining intake and output, checks availability of blood products and checks blood products with anesthesia before administering. Document blood administration and assures accuracy. · Demonstrates ability to handle difficult situations, and appropriate usage of safety measures. · Monitors, evaluates and intervenes appropriately with patients receiving conscious sedation. · Competent in application of safety positioning devices, providing ongoing observation, intervention and documentation as per hospital policy. · Maintains thorough knowledge of operation, care and handling of O.R equipment. Demonstrates ability to perform new procedures, skills and routines in specialty areas. · Performs initial vital signs and admission history to include introduction to patient and family. Assessment of chief compliant and notification of physician within 15 minutes of arrival to procedure area. · Obtains and documents an accurate systems assessment at the beginning of each procedure. · Responds to diagnostic data and initiates appropriate action or intervention. · Assesses patient education needs on admission, and psychosocial needs specific to patients age, growth, and development. · Initiates plan of care within eight hours of admission. Establishes priorities for patient care based on patient needs as evidence by completion of assigned duties within shift. · Performs Pre-Operative and Post-Operative care and instruction for each assigned surgical patient during shift. · Performs dressing changes using aseptic technique. · Collects and labels specimens per policy when ordered by physician. · Performs bedside glucose monitoring according to policy, performs ostomy care to include irrigation, appliance usage and reinforcement of teaching. · Inserts intermittent or indwelling urinary catheter using aseptic technique. · Administers oxygen therapy according to physician order. · Transfer patients in/out of the GI station in an efficient manner, by obtaining a complete and correct set of physician orders. Completes documentation of transfer summary. · All other duties as assigned. Actively participates in the building of good rapport with staff and colleagues through attendance of hospital medicine department clinician staff meetings, communicating in respectful and courteous manner to staff, and committing to teamwork consistent with the mission/vision of Mount Sinai and its affiliates. Qualifications Completion of a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Baccalaureate Degree Required or Completion of a Nationally Certified Nurse Practitioner Program Required. National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) PA-C or, American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), AGACNP-BC, American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), ACNP, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board, and, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
