Relocation Assistance (based on eligibility) Unit Overview The General Surgery/Bariatric Unit at Duke Regional Hospital is comprised of a 28-bed Surgical Unit. This unit provides care for general surgery, vascular, urology, colorectal, and plastics patients and is recognized as a Bariatric Center of Excellence. This unit has a patient population of about 50% bariatric and 50% geriatric. Since this is a bariatric surgery unit, the NAs will use Hoyer lifts. Shift Information Per Diem General Description of this Role Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Duties and Responsibilities of this Role Plan, provide, and document professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process, by physician orders and established policies and procedures under the supervision of the team leader or charge nurse. Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers. Assist other healthcare personnel in the delivery of patient care. Participate in maintaining the environment of care including equipment and material resources. Prioritize work organization and identify resources available to assist in completing components of care promptly. Participate in professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs, and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. Support the development of other staff and formal learners. Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assist in performance improvement activities. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Minimum Qualifications Education Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date. Experience 24 months of appropriate clinical experience is required. Degrees, Licensures, Certifications Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. Description The Child, Adolescent, and Eating Disorders Inpatient Psychiatry Unit (5Neurosciences) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated RN Clinical Nurse II (Per Diem) to join their team. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children, adolescents, and individuals receiving specialized mental health care while working alongside a supportive and collaborative team. 5 Neurosciences is a 31-bed Child, Adolescent and Eating Disorders Inpatient Psychiatry Unit comprised of three different focus areas to include 14-bed Adolescent, 8-bed Child and 9-bed eating disorders patient beds. Safety is the key component of the care provided as well as introduction of positive coping skills, healthy living and positive leisure activities. This is a Per Diem/ at-will position requiring the ability to generally work a minimum of 12 hours every 2 weeks; Day & Night Rotating shifts, general hours are 7am-7:30pm & 7pm-7:30am, with weekend and holiday rotation. This position requires the ability to attend the required weeklong hospital orientation offered every two weeks. Incorporates cultural and developmental needs into plan of care: in collaboration with the patient/family, and in a developmentally and culturally appropriate manner, implements the plan of care; demonstrates competency in the provision of nursing care according to established standards of nursing practice and in developmentally appropriate manner. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, ability to provide and delegate appropriate activities to staff based on patient assessment, complexity of the task, level of competence of staff and/or certification/licensure requirements and the requirements to deliver care in a safe efficient manner maximizing positive outcomes for the patient. Provides documentation of patient care in the patient record according to established standards of nursing care. Participates in performance improvement activities which include collecting, analyzing data to identify quantifiable measures to maintain quality and the promotion of desired outcomes.
