Department Description The Bass Cancer Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Diseases is a comprehensive patient care area that encompasses both inpatient and outpatient services. The Bass Center - Inpatient area, is a total of 49 beds, which encompasses PCU 500 and PCU 520: PCU 500: A 25 bed inpatient Hematology and Oncology unit. Patients are admitted with a new diagnosis of any type of cancer and readmitted for ongoing therapy and treatment of side effects. PCU 520: A 24 bed inpatient Stem Cell Transplant unit. Patients with metabolic and genetic disorders, in addition to patients with cancer, are admitted for allogeneic bone marrow, autologous bone marrow and stem cell transplants.
