Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0 - Under the general direction of The Senior Director of Inpatient and Emergency Services, the Nursing Supervisor serves as the onsite administrator for the hospital for a defined shift. The Nursing Supervisor understands and demonstrates knowledge of the healthcare environment, communication and relationship management, business skills and principals, professionalism, and leadership. The Nursing Supervisor works closely with emergency, inpatient, and operational leadership to act as an administrative liaison to internal hospital departments and external community resources. The RN will be an essential support person in our nursing department assisting with the daily management of the residents’ nursing needs and oversight of direct care staff. SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager (or designee), and within hospital and departmental policies and procedures, the professional registered nurse acts as a patient advocate in the application of the nursing process. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Graduate of a school of nursing, Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred, with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and sensitivity to cultural diversity in each step of the care process.Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation upon hire.EXPERIENCE:Registered nurses should develop general proficiency as a staff nurse within three months of employment. For specialty units, general nursing experience, appropriate to the specialty, is preferred.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged standing and walking. Exposed to all patient elements.
