The patient’s immune cells are removed from the body, reengineered in a lab and then infused back into the patient. These new immune cells seek out and destroy the cancerous cells. The Cellular Immunotherapy Program at Moffitt Cancer Center is an innovative treatment approach that harnesses the body’s own immune system to fight cancer.
