Registered Nurse (RN) – Infusion – Paducah Cancer Center Job Summary: The Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by: Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status Implementing clinical nursing interventions Having a highly diverse medical skillset Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment Essential Functions: Conducts and analyzes initial and ongoing patient assessment, creates plan of care, implements treatments and evaluates treatment effectiveness Restores, supports, promotes, rehabilitates, or palliates to maintain the physiologic, psychologic and psychosocial stability of patients across the lifespan Administers chemotherapy and other medication, starts IV's, transfuses blood and blood products and performs therapeutic phlebotomies Anticipates and responds with confidence and adapts to rapidly changing patient conditions Assists in creating an environment that promotes educational growth opportunities for nursing peers Other duties as assigned Education: Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Nursing Certifications: Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support acceptable in lieu of BLS) ONS Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Certification (required within 6 months of hire) Experience: One (1) year of medical/surgical or oncology experience (preferred, not required) Training: EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred, not required) Mercy Health is an equal opportunity employer. Nurses in this unit receive training in chemotherapy administration and the care of hematology/oncology and stem cell transplant patient. Nurses complete Oncology Nursing Society/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONS/ONCC) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification as part of orientation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S): Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
