Ensures documentation of medical necessity according to the regulatory guidelines applicable to Medicare Local and National Coverage Decisions. Acts as a resource to the clinic staff regarding testing and procedures at Sanford USD Medical Center. Works with departments to resolve complex scheduling issues adapting services to patient needs. Provides patient teaching regarding testing and diagnostic procedures. Must possess a breadth of clinical expertise and have a broad background of clinical experience in addition to an understanding of the growth and developmental needs of all age groups. This position requires a strong commitment to outstanding service and clear customer focus. Exceptional skills in relationship building, communication, negotiation and problem solving are necessary. Critical thinking skills, creativity, flexibility and innovation in adapting services to customer needs are essential. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred. Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Any additional state licensure requirements must be obtained within first 30 days of employment. The Primary Care Lead is a working RN role, providing clinical guidance and operational support to the ambulatory nursing team to promote high-quality, patient-centered care and efficient clinic operations.
