Job Description Nemours Children’s Health is seeking an experienced pediatric telephone triage nurse to support our primary care practices in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Florida. This is a casual (8 hours/week), fully remote position that is self-scheduled and requires one shift every other weekend and two holidays per year. To provide first line response to patient questions and concerns with escalation to the primary care offices when necessary. To ensure continuity of care, communicates the patient’s condition and plan of care to other health team members. Assigns admissions and arranges transfers in coordination with the Nurse Manager, House Supervisor and/or Bed Coordinator. Assures that shift report starts on time. Monitors breaks to provide adequate staffing. Determines staffing needs for the next shift and communicates those needs to the Staff Facilitator or Nursing Supervisor. Assigns staff to ensure equipment checks are completed: PCX controls, crash cart, refrigerator temps, red books and narcotic counts. Coordinates care in high-risk/emergent situations and keeps Nurse Manager/Director/Nursing Supervisor aware of critical patients and any unit issues. Ensures collaboration between staff, physicians, other providers, and departments involved in the care of patients on their unit. Keeps lines of communication open. Ensures patient care issues are documented and reported. Assures the appropriate nurse completes a Statement of Concern. Understands and utilizes Medical Staff and Kaweah Health's chain of command. Provides employee guidance and alerts the Nurse Manager of counseling needs. Provides patient care as needed. Makes fiscally responsible decisions regarding staffing and use of patient supplies. Additional Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care. Performs other duties as assigned. Unit Description Approximately 180 deliveries per month at our quaternary care hospital. Nearly 70% of obstetric patients are high-risk, with medically complex co-morbidities managed in collaboration with our Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) team. State-of-the-art unit featuring; 14 Antepartum Rooms,9 Labor, Delivery, and Recovery (LDR) Rooms, 6 Critical Care OB Rooms, 2 Operating Rooms, 2 Recovery Bays, 2 Triage Rooms Staffing aligned with AWHONN standards to support quality patient care and nurse well-being. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS This position is a Labor & Delivery nursing role at UW Medical Center and includes practice at both UW Medical Center and Seattle Children's Hospital as part of the UW Medical Center–Seattle Children's Fetal Intervention Program. FETAL PROGRAM PARTNERSHIP Admit patients for scheduled fetal procedures and fetal surgeries. Provide intra-procedural nursing support during fetal interventions and surgeries as part of a multidisciplinary care team. Recover patients following procedures, including monitoring maternal and fetal status and delivering post-anesthesia and post-procedure care. Deliver patient education, discharge planning, and ongoing post-procedure nursing care in collaboration with the fetal intervention team.
