Position Overview United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or a Physician Assistant (PA) for the Department of Neurosurgery at UHS Wilson Medical Center. The candidate will join a team of 5 Neurosurgeons and 7 APPs. The Hospital is a Level II trauma center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with 450 beds. The practice is a high functioning practice performing 1,200 + cases/year with excellent hospital support and a wide referral network spanning a 120 mile radius. Shift is Monday – Friday Days with rotating weekends/holiday coverage, and can be flexible to meet candidate’s needs. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: UHS Neurosurgery Annual Compensation Range: $143,100 - $167,000 ----- Seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Neurosurgery or Spine Surgery for this new role open due to department growth. This position provides health care services to patients under the direction and responsibility of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Administers and orders diagnostic test and interprets the test results for deviations from normal. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance. Preference for previous Neurosurgery or Spine Surgery experience. Preferred credentials are ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support). Will provide courses upon employment. Specialized care provided in the CICU includes cerebral oximetry monitoring, inhaled nitric oxide, temporary pacemakers, heart failure management, open chest procedures, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Extracorporeal life support represents a highly specialized form of cardiopulmonary support that includes the use of ECMO and ventricular assist devices (VAD). As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Experience: Two years of work experience as a medical assistant (with a high school diploma or equivalent only), EMT or other direct patient care related role. Will consider a current nursing student with completion of two clinical semesters from an accredited nursing program. In lieu of prior work experience, will also consider a graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting education program without a current certification from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), the National Certification Medical Association (NCMA), or registration from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), or any other recognized certifying body approved by the board.
