Will be required to obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation from an accredited school of nursing to remain employed in a HSO in the state of Missouri. Job Overview Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Oncology-5A Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN . As a Registered Nurse in our Oncology unit, you would help adult patients and oncologic malignancies. Our services include hematologic malignancy, gynecological oncology, solid organ tumor oncology, colorectal, plastic surgery, and gender affirmation surgery. Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the evening shifts (evenings: 3:00pm-11:30pm). This position will also work a rotation for every other weekend. About Our Oncology-5A Department at UMMC East Bank : Oncology 5A is a new unit that has combined both our previous Surgical and Medical Oncology units. We have a 39-bed capacity. We are a dynamic team that is focused on promoting a welcoming atmosphere filled with strong teamwork, collaboration, empathy, and compassion. We are looking for a nurse who is eager to learn new skills, has a high level of communication and critical thinking, and who is prepared for high levels of acuity. Our Registered Nurses must achieve or maintain an oncology-specific certification (e.g., OCN) or complete the oncology-specific continuing education credit requirement as defined by Commission on Cancer Accreditation standards. Ensures ongoing compliance with regulatory accreditation and quality/safety standards by maintaining and auditing temperature logs ensuring medication supplies are current/unexpired checking and maintaining emergency equipment area free of clutter and other related tasks. Updates appropriate records of scheduled equipment maintenance and manages drug and medical supply inventories. Provides telephone screening services to gather information from patients determine appropriate disposition and document per established telephone screening protocols. Under onsite provider supervision may insert intravenous catheter for physician initiated IV fluid therapy or administration of intravenous medications. Under direct onsite physician supervision may insert remove and monitor urinary catheter for procedures and prepare and administer oral drugs and injections limited to intradermal subcutaneous and intramuscular. May perform phlebotomy. Utilizes the EMR to propose patient medication refills for provider approval. Completes requisitions for tests (if applicable). Contacts insurance companies for Pre-authorizations for patient medications and specialty referrals including insurance authorization. Floats to other sites/locations within the system as appropriate and performs all duties at multiple sites. Attends scheduled meetings including but not limited to regular staff meetings and training classes for safety infection control OSHA CLIA BLS and others as required.
