Department LDRP Job Summary Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice. Required Qualifications - Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications. - Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045). - Require Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 90 days of hire. - Require Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 120 days of hire. - Require any OB/Neonatal Certifications obtained during employment will be maintained during the remainder of employment. These include but are not limited to: Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification, Maternal-Newborn Nursing Certification, Low Risk Neonatal Certification, any Lactation Certification. Job Overview Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Med/Surg 7B unit at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. Schedule: This position will be working 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the day/evening shift. This position will also work every other rotation. About 7B: This 22-bed unit provides care for adult patients undergoing Thoracic Surgery, Urology Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, General Surgery, and those with Cystic Fibrosis or General Medicine needs. Patient Ratios: Day shift 3-4 patients, evening shift 3-4 patients, night shift 4-5 patients The University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) represents an integrated academic health care system and is comprised of two hospitals and dozens of adult specialty clinics on located on both the East and West banks of the UMMC campus in Minneapolis. The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. Responsibilities: Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes. Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
