Job Profile Summary: The endocrinology nurse practitioner provides comprehensive care for patients in collaboration with endocrinologists and other healthcare professionals. Performs primary care consistent with APRN’s specialized knowledge, judgment, skill, training and education without medical supervision or delegation as authorized by the Missouri Nurse Practice Act. APRN will enter into and maintain a collaborative practice agreement with a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Missouri. Under such agreement, the physician delegates to the APRN authority to deliver health care services and treatments, and to administer, dispense and prescribe drugs which are specific to those clinical conditions he/she is authorized to treat. The APRN is authorized to provide health care services that include the diagnosis and initiation of treatment for acutely or chronically ill or injured persons. Creates patient problem list at first patient encounter and updates as appropriate at follow-up visits. Consults with collaborative physician or designee to provide health care services for conditions other than acute self-limited or well-defined problems. Maintains an ongoing timely process of submission of patient charts to collaborative physician or designee for review every 14 days as required by Missouri State Statute. Establishes a plan of care/treatment and provides counseling and clear instructions to the patient based on jointly agreed-upon protocols that are specific to the clinical conditions treated by the collaborating physician and collaborating APRN.
