Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Overview Position Overview Legacy Health offers an exciting growth opportunity to join a well-established team of collaborative and energetic Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs). This role provides the opportunity to practice across both Level III and Level IV NICU settings within the Legacy system. NNPs are integral to delivery attendance and the medical management of high-risk neonates and infants, including daily rounding on NNP service patients. In addition to clinical care, the role includes telemedicine resuscitation coverage for Legacy Level I nursery sites and opportunities to contribute to non-clinical initiatives that support the highest standards of care for NICU patients and their families. Level IV NICU – Randall Children’s Hospital The Level IV, 45-bed NICU is located within Randall Children’s Hospital, a freestanding, nine-story pediatric facility. This unit provides comprehensive care supported by a full range of pediatric subspecialties, including cardiac and neurosurgical services, genetics, and ECMO. Care is delivered within a family-integrated model, supported by a dedicated pediatric transport team. Notably, this role does not require transport responsibilities. Level III NICU – Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center The Level III, 22-bed NICU at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center is a growing unit actively expanding its NNP team. Scheduling is flexible and evolving, with 12-, 16-, and 24-hour shift options available to support work-life balance and team coverage. Scheduling & Practice Model This position is based in the Portland/Vancouver area and requires dual licensure in Oregon and Washington. NNPs rotate between both NICU sites, with frequency tailored to individual preferences while ensuring 24/7 coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays. A well-established self-scheduling model and structured holiday tracks contribute to provider satisfaction and balance. Compensation & Benefits As part of Legacy Medical Group, NNPs receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes: Competitive compensation License reimbursement Generous annual continuing education support Full benefits package and more Responsibilities Patient Care Management: The NNP’s work collaboratively with Neonatologists and pediatric subspecialists in the NICU as well as pediatricians and obstetricians in the Labor and Delivery and Family Birthing centers to guide the care of neonates and infants across the care continuum. The NNP’s are able to practice in an autonomous role utilizing technical procedural skills as well as essential decision making in the care of these patients. Nursing Care Support: The NNP team provide ongoing support to the nursing staff whether on the unit or through formal education opportunities. The NNP’s are key leaders in patient care projects that support both nursing care and medical management. Resuscitation: The NNP’s attend deliveries in person at each of the medical centers and via a telehealth support platform at the other level I nursery sites to provide a consistent high level of care for newborns throughout the Legacy system. Discharge Planning: The entire NICU team works to provide an integrated family care experience to enable families to care for their high-risk infants within the NICU setting and beyond. The NICU values input from all members of the team including dedicated neonatal RT’s, consultants from dietary, OT/PT, lactation, as well as the core nursing, medical and leadership staff. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as an NICU Staff Nurse, Level III preferred. Licensure Current applicable state RN license required. National Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) required. Current applicable state license as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Privileges (NNP-PP) required. Credentialed by Legacy Medical Staff for Category I and II privileges. Completion of ECMO certification course preferred. NRP certification from the American Heart Association. Job Summary: The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned nursing area(s) in order to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. The Assistant Nurse Manager prioritizes tasks for nursing staff, resolves staffing issues and problems, assists with goals, planning, customer service, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative and budget management, personnel resource management, communication, and quality activities. Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions on the off-shift in the inpatient setting; in other areas the ANM shift is based on operational needs. The Assistant Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN and Bachelors degree or Masters degree in Nursing required. Two years of post-licensure acute care RN experience (preferably in a specialty area) is required. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required. American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Professional Level CPR BLS required by time of appointment. Preferred Qualifications: Nursing Leadership certification and prior leadership experience are strongly preferred. 5 years of Operating Room experience with CNOR. Our patient mix is made of approximately 30 to 50 percent of our inpatient cases and Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy as deemed appropriate by our physicians. The remaining census consists of Medical/Surgical patients We also provide supportive/palliative care, which can involve transitioning to Hospice/End of Life Care. We also provide support to families and loved ones during this very difficult time. We are able to accommodate 32 patients with 16 telemetry monitors on our floor. Job Objectives : Assume direct responsibility and accountability for, and authority of, the nursing care of all patients assigned. Responsibilities Assesses and identifies the patient's physiological and psycho-social problems and needs. Develops an individualized plan of nursing care for each patient in which goals, in terms of measurable outcomes, are stated. Ensures that nursing care plan is consistent with the medical plan and adheres to accepted current standards of care and practice. Makes appropriate assignments to team members by utilizing patient acuity data, and maintains accountability for members under his/her direction. Ensures nursing care adheres to current hospital/departmental policies, procedures, and regulations. Demonstrates principles of infection control and collaborates with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, staff, and visitors. Participates in the orientation of new personnel. Assists clinical instructors in providing learning experiences for nursing students. Documents review and/or revision of each assigned patient's plan of care at least every 24 hours. For staff involved in the care of age-specific groups, knowledge of the bio-psychosocial needs of adult, geriatric and pediatric patients is essential. CRNA - PRN - AVALA Surgery Center, Metairie, LA - RA1, RA2

POSITION SUMMARY: The CRNA will administer anesthesia for all types of surgical cases, in every setting in which anesthesia is delivered, in accordance with their expertise. CRNA's will administer anesthesia in four general categories: (1) pre-anesthetic preperation and evaluation (2) anesthesia induction, maintainance and emergence, (3) post-anesthesic care and (4) perianesthetic and clinical support functions. POSITION DUTIES: The CRNA will: administer anesthesia for all types of surgical cases, in every setting in which anesthesia is delivered, in accordance with their expertise, state statutes or regulations, and institutional policies: administer anesthesia and anesthesia-related care in four general categories: (1) pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation (2) anesthesia induction, maintenance and emergence (3) post-anesthesia care and (4) peri-anesthetic and clinical support functions which may include: general, MAC, regional, or local anesthesia. Selecting, obtaining and administering the anesthetic, adjuvant drugs and fluid necessary to manage the anesthetic, to maintain the patient's physiologic homoestasis and to correct abnormal responses to the anesthesia or surgery. Selecting, applying and inserting appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitioring modalities for collecting and interpreting patient physiological data. Managing a patient's airway and pulmonary status using endotracheal intubation, mechnaical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy or extubation. Releasing or discharging patients from a post-anesthesia care area and providing post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care related to anesthesia side effects or complications. Ordering, initiating or modifying pain relief therapy, through the utilization of drugs, regional anesthetic techniques, or other accepted pain relief modalities, including epidural analgesia. Responding to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques. Provide clinical support services outside of the operating room, including but not limited to radiology, endoscopy, emergency department, invasive labs. Upon request or referral for these services, the CRNA will provide consultation and implementation of respiratory and ventilatory care, identify and manage emergency situations, including the initiation or participation in cardiopulmonary resuscitation that involves airway maintenance, ventilation, tracheal intubation, pharmacologic, cardiopulmonary support, management of blood, fluid, electrolyte and acid-base balance. Additional nurse anesthesia responsibilities which are within the expertise of the individual CRNA, as authorized by Medical Staff and stated in the policy and procedure manuals. Non-clinical responsibilities as applicable : Clinical and didactic teaching, supervision and evaluation of students; interdepartmental liaison, member of departmental committees; research participant. Maintains a positive demeanor, proactively helpful to patients, physicians and staff; r emains flexible and alters/accepts various tasks and assignments as they arise, per the Director’s requests or designee. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Education: Required: Holds a current state license as a registered nurse in the state of Louisiana and complies with any applicable state statutory and/or regulatory requirements concerning the advanced practice of nursing. Graduate from a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) or its predecessor. License/Certification: Required: Possess certification by the Council on Certification or recertification by the Council on Recertification or their respective predecessors; if pending initial certification, evidence of graduation from an approved nurse anesthesia educational program. Current BLS, PALS and ACLS certifications, as applicable. Skills: Demonstrates knowledge of principles of anesthesia practices. Must be able to operate all anesthesia equipment and to recognize equipment malfunction. Must be able to read written directions and to write legibly. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, residents, physicians, patients, visitors and hospital staff.
