Essential Responsibilities Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with appropriate instruments and supplies. (20%) Utilizes proper aseptic techniques and practices standard precautions. Follows policy for medication and specimen handling. (20%) Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to assure correct patient and surgical site. (20%) Understands, anticipates and adapts to surgeon preference and patient care variables, and contributes to updating surgeon preference materials. (20%) Performs sponge, needle, and instrument count. (10%) Cares for and utilizes resources to promote cost effective and efficient environment for patients. (10%) Performs other duties as assigned or required. Qualifications Minimum One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Surgical Technologist (ST) hired after 12/29/2020 require one of the following Education and Certification Accredited Surgical Technologist program completion and nationally recognized certification (CST, TS-C) within 6 months of hire. Military programs accepted. Pre-existing Employment Employment as a surgical technologist by this facility before 12/29/2020, or at another facility within the two years prior to 12/29/2020. CPR – American Heart Association within 60 days of hire. Preferred 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience. How you’ll make an impact in this role Ensure the safety and efficiency of complex surgical procedures. Prepare the surgical suite, confirming all drapes, solutions, and instruments are sterile and ready. Support the surgical team by expertly handing instruments and anticipating the surgeon’s needs throughout the procedure. Assist in the preparation, transport, and positioning of patients, upholding patient comfort and dignity. Maintain a safe, organized, sterile field and accurately track all instrument counts for optimal patient safety. What minimum requirements you’ll need Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. One or more of the following required: Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. What additional preferences we're seeking 2 years of recent Certified Surgical Scrub experience.
