Circulates for operative procedures under supervision of R.N. At the end of procedure assist with site care Cleanses operative site. Connects drainage tubes to appropriate devices. Assists and/or applied sterile dressing. Assists with patient transfer to bed/stretcher. Covers soiled gloves with clean exam gloves. Assists with transfer with adequate number of assistants present. A caregiver in this position works days and on-call from 7:00 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. -- 8:30 p.m. Orientation will take place for three to six months from 7:00 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available. Perform various duties including but not limited to: provide assistance to surgical team during the intra-operative phase, provide aseptic, safe, appropriately equipped and functional surgical environment. Responsible for OR preparation, instrument supply and assembly, maintenance of sterile fields, hands off instruments and initiation of counts throughout procedures. Perform Surgical Technologist duties including on-call duties as need or required. Qualifications Equal to completion of 4 years of high school plus additional specialized courses or training is required. Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program is required. Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologist within 12 months of graduation from program or within 6 months of hire if greater than 12 months from graduation. Certification in Basic Life Support is required. One (1) year of related work experience is preferred. Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience. Roles and Responsibilities: Standards of Care: Maintains operative care standards according to AORN guidelines. Preparation and Setup: Stocks rooms, cleans equipment, and prepares supplies based on surgeon and anesthesia needs. Surgical Support: Assists with patient positioning, surgical hand scrubs, counts, and Time Out procedures. Safety and Infection Control: Identifies and addresses safety hazards, follows universal precautions, and infection control protocols. Accountability and Flexibility: Organizes tasks to meet patient and unit needs, adapts to changes, and stays current with education and policies. Required Skills and Experience: NBSTSA or NCCT certification preferred OR Graduate of an Accredited 2-Year Surgical Technology program (AAS), and eligible for certification within 12 months Physical Requirements: Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard). Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g., boxes, equipment, IV solutions), with or without reasonable accommodation.
