Oversees appointment scheduling and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains timely flow of patients. Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination. Screens patients for appropriate information including obtaining the health history, taking vitals, and conducting a nursing assessment. Documents obtained information in patient chart. Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests. Responds to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician. Educates patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness. Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints. Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed. Assures appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed. Performs quality control and maintains records on all lab testing. Perform wound care clinical skills within the scope of practice of a registered nurse in the state of Florida for which the skills and knowledge have been validated via skills checklists. Contribute to the customer experience goals as evidenced by positive patient verbal and/or written comments for the department and team. Serve as role model for all unit staff by setting an example of high standards in conduct, attitude, performance, and patient/family relations. Encourage individual and group collaboration to problem solve and achieve high quality customer care. Facilitate communication with team members, physicians, and administrative personnel. Ensure cost effective unit operations within budgetary expectations and corporate financial goals. Prepare and adjust staffing plan based on unit census and acuity daily. Ensure staffing schedules are completed on time and in compliance with approved staffing plan. Participate in the disciplinary conferences for individuals not following hospital policy/procedure or whose actions necessitate corrective action. May take on team office lead role to assist with office activities and functions to maintain efficiency and compliance with company policies.
