Attention to detail and consistent, high-quality recording are crucial for success. Essential Functions of the Role Become the go-to person for trauma registry reports, responding efficiently to requests for information using available trauma-related database resources. Collect and manage trauma data for research and quality improvement. Keep information confidential and accurate. Use data-backed skills for reports and examination to improve processes and patient care. Consult with physicians for trauma case reporting when necessary. Be accountable for reporting and transmitting hospital data in a complete and timely manner to relevant reporting bodies. Ensure harmonious collaboration with the trauma leadership, hospital staff, and physicians is vital for maintaining the trauma designation status. With collaboration of the attending physician, writes antibiotic and/or oxygen orders needed for post discharge. Performs peer to peer appeals on post acute denials. Acts as back up for the Physician Advisor handling peer to peer appeals and written appeals when necessary. Performs secondary clinical assessment and documentation to support inpatient admissions as well as to support subacute, long term care(trach weaning necessity/settings) post discharge. Assists denials staff with open communication and feedback to medical staff in regards to denials due to level of care and insufficient documentation. Supports care coordinators to provide real time feedback to providers for improved documentation that will defend the length of stay. Works collaboratively with care coordination manager in process improvement in regards to length of stay, denials and readmissions. Supports care coordination department with difficult discharges and/or refusal to leave facility to a more appropriate level of care. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Current NJ APN license required. Previous healthcare experience required. Previous experience in an inpatient hospital setting preferred. Experience with EPIC preferred.
