JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating. Responsible for the directing and coordinating all nursing care for medical/surgical patients based on established nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

Holds an active Registered Nurse license, and is eligible to practice in the state of Kentucky.

Current BLS certification.

Department Description The Intensive Care Nursery (ICN), founded in 1964, is a regional tertiary center and has the proud distinction of being one of the first neonatal intensive care units in the world. In addition to caring for extremely premature infants, the ICN also cares for infants with congenital anomalies in need of evaluation and surgical interventions. The ICN opened the first Neuro Intensive care unit for newborns in 2008. Today, the ICN continues to enjoy a reputation for being at the forefront of innovation in the fields of neonatology and fetal treatment. Neonatologists, neurologists, radiologists and nurses work to improve neuro developmental outcomes in very premature infants and full-term babies who are at high risk of neurological injury or have clinical evidence of encephalopathy, seizures or stroke.
