
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Sunnyvale, CA
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in a dynamic school setting near Sunnyvale, CA. This role offers part-time hours during the Extended School Year, ranging from 18.5–22.5 hours per week, and focuses on providing 1:1 care for medically fragile students.
As an itinerant nurse, you will rotate among campuses, building meaningful relationships with students and staff while making a tangible impact on their well-being and school experience. You’ll review and update seizure and health plans, deliver vital staff training on healthcare procedures, collaborate closely with parents, and act as an immediate resource for urgent medical needs. Direct care responsibilities include supporting daily health requirements such as gastronomy, bladder cauterization, and diabetes management—with emphasis on CGM use, carb counting, and addressing both hypo- and hyperglycemia. Applicants comfortable assisting students from ages 4 to 22, and with developmental or autism spectrum differences, will thrive in this vital role. The ability to administer medicines, including epinephrine and Benadryl, is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active LPN/LVN license with previous experience working in schools or pediatric healthcare
- Skilled in managing gastronomy, bladder cauterization, and diabetic protocols
- Familiarity with ASD and developmental delays in diverse age groups
- Demonstrated expertise with emergency medication and urgent medical responses
- Exceptional communication skills; bilingual Spanish is a plus but not mandatory
- Ability to flexibly travel between campus locations
