Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois (required).
  • Prior experience working in a school environment (required).
  • Must submit current certification/license and resume with application.
  • LPNs will not be considered for this position.
  • Strong understanding of pediatric and adolescent health issues.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct professional nursing services, including first aid, illness, and emergency care, aligned with nursing best practices and school protocols.
  • Administer medications, maintain proper documentation, and ensure medication security.
  • Support the Certified School Nurse in student and staff wellness programs and on special projects, such as health action plans for allergies, asthma, and seizures.
  • Help maintain the health office, working closely with other health staff as needed.
  • Monitor and report maintenance needs for building AEDs.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant medical records for immunizations, physical exams, and related documentation.
  • Fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities for suspected abuse or neglect with professionalism and discretion.
