American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVOR RN for a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital requiring a minimum of 3 years of OR/CVOR experience and an active IL RN license. Job details: - Works in the Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) of a 562-bed Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma acute care hospital - 4x10-hour day shifts, 6:15 AM – 4:45 PM - On-call required 1–2 nights per week and every 5th weekend - Average daily census of 10 across 4 OR rooms - Cardiovascular procedures include: Aortic Aneurysm repair, Atrial Septal Defect (adult) repair, CABG, ECMO, Femoral Cannulation, IABP, LVAD, MAZE Procedure, Mitral Valve Replacement, PDA, Pericardial Window, TAVR, and cardiovascular surgery scrub - Vascular procedures include: AAA repair, AV fistula repair, Atherectomy, Carotid Endarterectomy, EVAR, Femoral-Popliteal Bypass Graft, Vein Stripping, and vascular surgery scrub - Thoracic procedures include: Laparoscopic-assisted cases, Lobe Resection, Mediastinoscopy, Thoracotomy, VATS, and thoracic surgery scrub - Endoscopic procedures include: Bronchoscopy, EGD, Laparoscopic-assisted cases, PEG Tube placement/exchange, and endoscopic surgery scrub - Charting via Cerner - Floating is required for all travelers, within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility - Parking is available at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation Requirements: - Active IL RN license required; candidates actively in the application process will also be considered - BLS required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted) - ACLS preferred - Minimum 3 years of CVOR or major OR/trauma OR experience required - Experience in a Level II Trauma or higher setting required - Teaching hospital experience required - Proficiency in cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and endoscopic surgical scrubbing required - Whipple procedure experience required - Required professional knowledge includes: Laser Safety, Specimen Handling/Labeling, and Universal Protocol (Time-Out) Procedure - SSN and DOB required for consideration Additional information: - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Candidates must reside 50 miles or more from the facility to be eligible - Scrubs are provided for this role - Candidate must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays - RTO of 5 days or fewer is ideal; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval - Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler - Travel pairs are not accepted - The facility does not accept RQI AHA certification cards
