American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring Level I trauma experience, an active IL license, and a minimum of 2.5 years of OR experience. Job details: - >Operating Room department within an acute care hospital featuring 23 rooms - Works all service lines except cardiovascular (CV) surgery - Day shift schedule of 4x12 hour shifts, 10:45 AM to 11:15 PM - Required to work 1 weekend per month - On-call responsibilities approximately 1 shift per week - Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities, within skill set - Uses Cerner charting system - Uses electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables Requirements: - Active IL RN license required in hand or in process at time of application - BLS certification required; CNOR and CST certifications preferred - Minimum 2.5 years of Operating Room nursing experience required - General OR and Level I Trauma center experience required - First-time travelers not accepted for this position - Cerner charting experience preferred - Required case experience in General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple) - Required case experience in Neurology (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion) - Required case experience in Orthopedics (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, open/closed fracture reduction) - Required case experience in Urology (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy) - Required case experience in Trauma (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, multiple injury MVAs) - Required experience in Bariatric laparoscopic assisted cases - Required experience in Plastic Surgery free flap microvascular procedures - Required experience in organ donation/transplant cases - Required professional knowledge in blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol time-out procedures, and urinary catheterization - Required emergency management skills including code response, fire safety, latex allergy protocols, and malignant hyperthermia management - AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted Additional information: - Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds - Scrubs provided for this role - Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted for this specialty - Previous permanent or PRN employees of the facility must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler - All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the facility manager - Up to 5 non-holiday RTO days may be auto-approved; additional days require facility approval - Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays - Free parking permit provided; form completed during orientation - First day of assignment consists of virtual, at-home orientation with required modules completed by 4:00 PM CST - Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
