Job Description

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

The staff registered nurse is a professional care giver who follows the framework of primary nursing and assumes responsibility and accountability for the care and teaching of a group of patients/families for a designated time frame. The staff RN directs and provides care to these patients utilizing therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of PICU registered nurse experience OR a pediatric clinical preceptorship
  • Recent nursing inpatient Pediatric ICU experience within the last year preferred
  • Ventilator management
  • Pain and Sedation Management
  • Advanced Patient Monitoring
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of California
  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification
  • Current Healthcare Provider PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
