Registered Nurse (RN) Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides licensed care to assigned residents as ordered by physician and in accordance with facility, federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations 

  • Provides and receives nursing reports upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. 

  • Ensures assigned work area (i.e. nurse station, medication cart, medication room, etc.), resident care rooms and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.

  • Directs and supervises the day-to-day certified nursing assistant services for assigned unit to assure that care is being rendered in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. 

  • Takes and records residents blood pressure and vital signs, administers catheter care, administers IV therapy to residents as ordered within license limitations, and provides respiratory care, e.g. oxygen, nebulizer treatments. 

  • Receives and transcribes physician’s orders to resident’s charts, Kardex/Care Medication Administration Record (“MAR”), treatment/care plans, as required. 

  • Prepares and administers medications and performs treatments as ordered by the physician. 

  • Charts nurses notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident’s response to the care. 

  • Counts all controlled drugs with other nurse at shift change and notifies management of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on your shift. 

  • Ensures the resident’s environment is as free from accidents and hazards. Immediately corrects/addresses potential safety risks as prudent and warranted. 

  • Makes written and oral reports/recommendations concerning the activities of shift as required. 

  • Admits, transfers and/or discharges residents as necessary to meet the resident’s individual needs and maintains the overall safety of other residents, staff and visitors.

  • All other duties, as assigned.

Registered Nurse (RN) Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. 

  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress. 

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work. 

  • Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.

  • Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.

Registered Nurse (RN) Education and Experience:

  • Current CPR Certification required.

  • Nursing Degree or diploma from an accredited College or University. 

  • Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Registered Nurse. 

  • 1 year of experience preferred.

  • Long-Term care experience preferred.

Assistant Director Of Nursing (ADON)

SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the Assistant Director of Nursing is to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, the Medical Director, and/or the Director of Nursing, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility. Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating our written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of nursing department. Ensure that reference material maintained at the nurse’s station is current. Recommend to the Director written material that will assist the nursing department in meeting the day-to-day needs of residents. Develop and periodically update nursing service objectives and statements of philosophy. Assist in developing and implementing a nursing organization structure. Also ensure that all nursing assistants are enrolled in or have graduated from an approved nursing assistants program. Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours, and/or assist nursing supervisory staff in completing and performing such tasks. Delegate to the Charge Nurse and Nurse Supervisors the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary to perform their assigned duties. Assist the Director in preparing performance evaluations as directed. Make daily rounds of the nursing department to ensure that all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Report findings to Director. Review complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnel. Make appropriate reports to Director as required or as may be necessary. Ensure that departmental disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap, or marital status. Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors and government agencies as necessary. Ensure that all nursing personnel participate in the facility’s TB testing program. Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission to the facility. Escort them to their rooms as necessary. Participate in the development of written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident. Encourage the resident and his/her family to participate in the development and review of the resident’s plan of care.
