Children's Behavioral Health - Nurse Manager

What you can expect Location: 2608 Erwin Rd. Durham, NC 27705 The Behavioral Health (BH) Nurse Manager serves as a key clinical and operational leader across both adult and pediatric outpatient behavioral health services. This position reports directly to the Duke Children's Clinical Operations Director (COD), with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Duke Children's Administrative Operations Director (AOD) and the Adult Behavioral Health AOD. Through close collaboration with operational, clinical, and medical leadership, the Nurse Manager supports the delivery of high-quality, patient- and family-centered care across multiple behavioral health settings. The Nurse Manager will provide leadership and operational oversight for Adult Behavioral Health Clinics, a multi-site program that includes Duke Behavioral Health North Durham, North Pavillion, and embedded provider programs; Pediatric Behavioral Health Clinics at Lakeview; Autism Clinic; Duke Children's Evaluation Center (DCEC); Pediatric Psychodiagnostic Clinic; and Duke Children's Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Duke Behavioral Health provides comprehensive outpatient services for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a wide range of mental and behavioral health conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, eating disorders, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and other behavioral health concerns. Care is delivered through a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals committed to individualized, evidence-based care. Treatment modalities include but are not limited to medication management, therapy, neurodiagnostic testing services, partial hospitalization program and group therapy. What you will need Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required. Master's degree in Nursing strongly preferred. Three years of nursing experience is required. Experience in Behavioral Health and/or Ambulatory environments preferred. Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BCLS certification required. Nurses hired into leadership positions must obtain a nursing leadership certification within one year of hire. New nurse leaders who are ineligible to sit for an exam because they have not been working in a leadership role for the minimum amount of time required must complete their certification within three months of becoming eligible. The Provider must be committed to providing high-quality patient care while specializing in medical dermatology with a focus on the medical (80%) and cosmetic (20%) aspects of the field. Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment, be flexible to adapt to new technologies and protocols in a quickly evolving practice setting. They must have the ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment and is responsible for providing outstanding patient service within the clinic and through various virtual communication channels while maintaining a compassionate and welcoming atmosphere. What You Will Do: Conduct comprehensive skin evaluations to assess the overall health and condition of a patient's skin. Perform focused examinations to diagnose and monitor specific skin conditions. Diagnose and manage common dermatological conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, fungal infections, and dermatitis. Perform skin biopsies to obtain tissue samples for pathological examination. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including skin biopsies, patch tests, and cultures. Prescribe medications such as topical creams, biologics, oral antibiotics, antifungals, or immunosuppressants. Administer immunizations for conditions like warts or molluscum contagiosum. Excise benign skin lesions, moles, and cysts using local anesthesia when necessary. Suture or close wounds after excisions. Administer cryotherapy using techniques like liquid nitrogen application. Drain abscesses and perform incision and drainage procedures. Insert or remove sutures and staples. Manage wound care and provide dressing changes for chronic wounds, ulcers, or surgical sites. Evaluate and diagnose skin cancer. Collaborate with dermatologists to plan and implement treatment, which may include surgery, radiation therapy, or referrals to oncology specialists. Educate patients on proper skincare routines, sun protection, and lifestyle modifications. Counsel patients on the importance of early detection and prevention of skin cancer. Provide guidance on self-examination for suspicious moles or lesions. Prescribe and manage medications. Monitor patients for medication side effects and treatment response. Administer phototherapy treatments, using narrowband UVB or PUVA therapy as appropriate. Manage chronic dermatological conditions, including hidradenitis suppurativa, vitiligo, or lichen planus. Collaborate with other healthcare providers for comprehensive patient care.
