The care team consists of 12 Medical Assistants, 1 LPN, 2 ambulatory registered nurses, 11 providers (including physicians and advanced practice providers), 5 Patient Service Representatives, 2 behavioral health professionals, a community health worker and a pharmacist. The unit partners with local refugee programs and routinely supports non–English-speaking patients. Onsite resources include a Vietnamese interpreter as well as phone and iPad devices to facilitate language translation services. As a large practice, the unit offers opportunities for professional growth and development across all roles. Both the onsite manager and supervisor have clinical backgrounds. Daily responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, administering vaccines and medications, completing in-basket work, answering phones, and performing point-of-care testing. Newly hired individuals will complete an onsite training period and be paired with a Senior Medical Assistant for mentorship and support. This position will be Monday to Friday with variable start/end times between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with 1-2 early start dates and one late night. There’s an office rotation that leadership would like to discuss during the interviewing process. $3,000 Sign On Bonus Available Provides clinical support to health care professionals to ensure the delivery of quality health care services. Practice Overview: ICCB Primary Care clinic is the largest Primary Care office in the medical group, and we see approximately 300 patients a day. The clinic covers family, internal, and pediatric medicine. MAs hired into this space are expected to be competent in both clinical and clerical tasks as well as adult and pediatric immunizations. Our MA schedules are built into blocks to match the provider/business need. Most schedules will include at least one early morning shift and one late night shift. We currently have 9 providers with plans for a new physician in fall of 2026. We are internal medicine, so we see only adults 18 and above. Our MAs typically work a four-day work week, with one early morning and one late night until 7pm. We have a positive and friendly culture with providers and staff who enjoy teaching. General Summary: Under the direction of the Office Manager, the Medical Assistant performs administrative and clinical duties to care for patients in an ambulatory setting. Administrative duties include maintaining medical records, handling patient calls and completing forms. Clinical duties include measuring and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination and administering medications as directed by physician or advance practice providers. The Medical Assistant plays an integral role in the care team model. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: High school degree (or GED) required. Current Certification as Medical Assistant required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required by 3/1/2025. Previous experience as Medical Assistant preferred Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work with the medical team Ability to effectively communicate with patients and staff while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact Ability to operate medical equipment safely and correctly Knowledge of infection prevention & control standards and practices Flexible, organized and able to function under stressful situations Ability to understand, interpret and apply instructions, guidelines and procedures Culturally sensitive and able to work with ethnically diverse patient populations Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks Intermediate experience with computers and information systems Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Ensures all relevant reports, tests results, labs and correspondence are available prior to the patient’s appointment. Escorts patients to exam room, interviews patients, measures vital signs and document all information in patient’s medical record. Reviews patient’s medical record to determine needed services and whether referrals are in process or have been completed since last visit. Assists physician or advance practice providers during examination or procedure. Provides patient with information and instructions as authorized by physician or advanced practice provider. Keeps exam room stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintains instruments and prepares them for sterilization and storage. Provides clerical support which may include completing forms/requisitions, answering phones, sending/receiving medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information. Cleans rooms between patient visits in accordance with infection prevention and control standards. Administers medications and immunizations under authorization and supervision of physicians and/or advance practice providers. Processes messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and advance practice providers. Processes messages and call backs to patients, medical offices and pharmacies. Processes medication refills according to protocols. Maintains all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperature, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, sterilization fluid charge etc.) Performs EKG’s and simple (CLIA waived testing) medical office laboratory and screening tests. Collects and processes blood samples and other non-blood specimens for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Participates in process improvement activities to enhance patient care and service.
