Job Overview The Medical Assistant (MA) II functions as an AltaMed ambassador at the assigned clinic, PSC, or Patient Registry team. The MA is welcoming and attentive to the needs of all patients and creates a positive patient experience by managing expectations while demonstrating compassion and respect. The MA assists in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine patient care procedures and technical/clerical support services in the clinical setting. The MA builds relationships with patients, listening to them and gaining their trust. The MA demonstrates compassion and respect and will be proactive in managing patients’ expectations. In addition, the Medical Assistant documents all specialties in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and assists with administrative responsibilities that include providing feedback on Back-Office processes to the Nursing Supervisor/Manager. Lastly, the MA assists in achieving department goals and objectives by providing support and guidance to the Medical Assistant team as a mentor and trainer. If working at the Patient Service Center, the MA provides other duties over the telephone. Minimum Requirements A Medical Assistant certificate, along with a high school diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of 1 year of experience as a back office Medical Assistant preferred in the outpatient setting, medical practice, or clinic setting. Phlebotomy certified preferred Nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification, preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese, depending on location, strongly preferred. A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.
