POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in the care, maintenance, preparation, and cleaning of equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines. Responds to patients and their families promptly using demonstrated effective customer service skills. Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior. Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens. Uses good body mechanics and aseptic technique. Assists in the placement of patient monitors per the nurses' directions (ie, BP cuffs, pulse oximeter, EKG leads, etc.) Mentors new technicians and recommends changes to orientation as necessary. Assists with the maintenance of the physical environment of the Center. Responsible for communication with equipment repair as appropriate. Communicates with Charge Nurse regarding workflow. Maintains professionalism within the Center and community. Informs Charge Nurse of applicable day-to-day situations. Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies. Perform various tasks assigned by the charge nurse including vital signs, residents’ weights, applying creams/ointments, collecting specimens, etc. Assist with orienting residents and their families to the nursing home upon admission and to the unit when transfers occur. Lift, move, and transport residents, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention. Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with the resident, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors. Assist and escort residents for appointments such as beauty shop, activities, church services, etc. Participate in activities and functions as directed.
