Perform approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within scope of practice and demonstrated competency. Manage the care of newborns in accordance with established protocols and standards. Collaboration & Care Coordination Partner with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Serve as a trusted clinical resource and advocate for patients and families. Consult and seek appropriate supervision when needed to ensure safe, effective patient care. Facilitate continuity of care through coordination of services and patient follow-up. Patient Education & Advocacy Educate patients and families regarding health promotion, disease prevention, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, and overall wellness. Support informed decision-making and patient-centered care. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards. Venice Hospital opened in December 2021, located on a 65-acre campus and features a 365,000-square-foot, 5 story hospital with 212 private patient suites, a 61-bed emergency care center, 8 surgical suites to include a daVinci XI Robot. The adjoining 2 story, 60,000-square-foot Medical Office Building is where the OB/GYN practice is conveniently located. The LDRP is equipped with 10 luxury LDRPs, 2 C-Section ORs, and 4 triage beds. The Level I nursery accepts patients who are 35+ weeks with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner on call 24/7. SMH-Sarasota, located 17 miles North, is the only hospital in Sarasota County providing a Level III NICU . Responsibilities: Provide Obstetric and Gynecologic services in an outpatient and hospital setting. Monday – Friday outpatient practice hours. Rounding on admitted patients on LDRP at the hospital and seeing patients in the practice, and providing physician and/or labor coverage throughout the day depending on need. The CNM provides full-scope obstetric and gynecologic care to low and moderate risk patients in our several clinic locations and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health’s Women & Babies Hospital. Inpatient responsibilities include assessing patients in Triage, managing low and moderate risk labor, attending births, and rounding on postpartum patients in our Couplet Care unit. Our midwives function independently within a team-based care model. We maintain excellent working relationships with our collaborating physicians, as well as with the residents and nurses on the labor floor, to provide midwifery services to patients. The CNM should be self-directed, responsible and accountable for clinical practice and also provide continuity, compassionate, culturally sensitive care to patients. Our CNMs interests and responsibilities extend to the community level where they strive to improve maternal/child health from a patient-centered/family centered approach. Some travel may be required to satellite offices. Hours: Full-time positions include a combination of inpatient and outpatient hours in rotating 8-hr, 12-hr, and/or 24-hr shifts to total 40hrs/week on average. Responsibilities The certified nurse midwife (CNM) is an advanced practice nurse who is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum, and newborn patients.
