Comprehensive Care Across the Continuum : The unit doesn't just provide care during labor and delivery; it supports women before, during, and after childbirth. World’s First Pediatric Hospital-based Birthing Facility : Being located in a pediatric hospital allows the SDU to provide immediate access to pediatric specialists if needed, ensuring a smooth transition for babies who require intensive care or surgery after birth. State-of-the-Art Facilities : The two operating rooms dedicated to cesarean sections and fetal surgeries help accommodate the unique needs of the pregnancies being managed in the SDU. The 15-bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) rooms provide a nurturing environment for the mothers to labor and recover, while also allowing flexibility for individual care plans. The two infant stabilization rooms ensure that babies born with complications are immediately stabilized by the neonatal team. Skilled, Multidisciplinary Team : The staffing of experienced labor and delivery nurses, a 24-hour obstetrician and certified nurse midwife, and obstetrical technologists ensures that the team is equipped to handle high-risk deliveries. The backup maternal-fetal medicine physician and the availability of pediatric specialists enable a coordinated approach to addressing both maternal and fetal care needs. Compassionate, Individualized Care : The SDU's approach seems centered around not just medical intervention, but also providing compassionate care, which is critical for families facing such difficult circumstances. The emotional and psychological support for these mothers and families is as important as the physical care provided. The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to expert practitioner of professional nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model. The nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for patients and families and progresses to caring for those with the most complex problems/highest acuity in the designated clinical area. Charge RN (ED) NIGHTS Department: 7010-Emergency Room Employment Type: Full Time Location: 14662 Newport Ave, Tustin, CA 92780 ("HOSPITAL") Reporting To: Mildred Cureton Compensation: $53.80 - $67.19 / hour Description The Emergency Department Charge Nurse oversees clinical functions related to the delivery of patient care, the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care for the assigned shift. Directs patient care activities by assigning staff and functions on the unit based on the Charge RN’s assessment of patient needs and the relative skills and abilities of staff, while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise. This is a 12-hour shift Key Responsibilities Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Ensures break relief and provides break relief coverage for the shift. Troubleshoots and resolves issues as they arise. Functions as a role model and clinical resource to staff and patients. Supervises and directs staff RNs, LVNs, and Nursing Assistants in their daily job functions and provides meaningful input for employee counseling, evaluation, scheduling and discipline. Oversees and coordinates the daily operations of the unit, resolving issues as they occur based on experience and judgment. Demonstrates advanced level of clinical expertise, strong leadership and collaborative skills in dealing with staff and members of the healthcare team. Completes daily assignments for staff based on their assessment of relative staff competencies, and responsibly ensures acuities are complete for all assigned patients. Provides meaningful for RN coaching, training, counseling discipline and performance assessments. Assists with employee hiring decisions, including interviewing and recommending candidates, conducting orientation, and training new employees. Required Qualifications Active, current, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification At least one (1) year of professional nursing knowledge and experience Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to guide, mentor, and support clinical staff while promoting collaboration and accountability Strong understanding of patient classification systems, acuity-based staffing models, and regulatory staffing requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members Ability to adapt quickly and maintain professionalism, flexibility, and composure in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment Strong critical-thinking, organizational, and decision-making skills with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while fostering a patient-centered culture of safety and service excellence
